I just heard that Bob Iger, the CEO of the “House that Mickey built” will be stepping down in June 2018. Since I’m currently not on the executive track at Disney, I didn’t know it was widely assumed that chief operating officer Thomas Staggs was being groomed to be the next “Big Cheese at the House that Mickey built”. Well jittery investors, Mr. Staggs has departed Disney and now the question remains: “Who will succeed Mr. Iger?
I have one suggestion: me.
I’ll give you multiple reasons why I think I should I should be Disney’s next CEO:
- The company will save money on my pay package. My compensation will not be nearly as high as the current CEO’s. Far less in fact.
- I’ve been to both Disneyland and Disney World.
- We have an incredible library of Disney movies on VHS. At least 20 of them. The original “Jungle Book” is still my favorite.
- I’m already in the media business.
- OK, I don’t have experience running a $180 billion company, but what’s a few zeros between friends?
- When you become a CEO, there’s always someone who doesn’t like you. Not too many people like me now.
- I could easily relocate. I have a cousin who lives in LA. I could stay with him for a bit and save the company moving expenses.
- I saw all the Star Wars movies, however I would bring back George Lucas.
- Being a small business owner for many years, I have experience in all facets of a business, including the title “Chief Cook & Bottle Washer”.
- I know a lot of people, so I would get them to go to Disneyland when they visit me in LA. Of course, I would have to offer them a deal.
So there you have it, ten great reasons why I should be the next CEO of The Walt Disney Co.
If you want to help me become Mr. Iger’s successor, please email them at twdc.corp.communications@disney.com. If you are an investor, then try to get me on the proxy for the next stockholders meeting. I’ll send you a postcard from LA.
